Thomas van der Sommen

Thomas van der Sommen specializes in tort law. He focuses on human rights violations by multinational corporations and governments, in particular in the context of armed conflict and arms trade.

Thomas is a broadly schooled lawyer who started his education with the interdisciplinary bachelor program Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics. Following that, he focused his studies on Dutch law with particular attention to tort law. Thomas gained experience at i.a. the Dutch Council for Refugees, the Public Interest Litigation Project and the Dutch section of the International Commission of Jurists. Thomas has been working at the International law and Human Rights department at Prakken d’Oliveira since 2019, as of 2021 he works there as a lawyer.
