Elles ten Vergert

Elles ten Vergert specializes in liability for human rights violations. She focuses specifically on fundamental rights and business & human rights. For example, she represented four Nigerian farmers and the foundation Friends of the Earth the Netherlands (Vereniging Milieudefensie) in proceedings against Shell concerning oil pollution in Nigeria. 

Elles holds an LLM in Public International Law (cum laude) from the University of Amsterdam. She did part of her studies in French at the University of Toulouse. During her studies, she was an intern at UNHCR The Netherlands and conducted research on the possibilities of holding multinationals liable for human rights violations and the interpretation of criminal law in article 1F(a) of the Refugee Convention.
