It may be that you or your business ends up on a sanctions list. Sanctions lists are amended on a regular basis. The best-known sanctions lists are maintained by the UN Security Council and the Council of the European Union, but sanctions can also be applied on a national level (e.g. by the Netherlands or the United States).

It is possible to appeal against being placed on a sanctions list. The process to be followed for this will depend on which sanctions regime applies. Such proceedings are highly specialized in nature and usually require the assistance of an expert attorney.
