Today, the Dutch Minister for Immigration and Asylum, Mr. Leers, granted Mr. Abu Kurke Kabeto a residence permit. The minister did so using his discretionary powers and in light of the request by the Council of Europe to grant residency to the victims of the boat accident that took place along the Mediterranean coast in 2011.
