Following the earlier news item regarding the refusal of the Trial Chamber to investigate the influence of the Cambodian government within the Khmer Rouge Tribunal, the Nuon Chea Defense Team replied to the Co-Prosecutors' response to its appeal this week.

According to defense lawyers Michiel Pestman and Victor Koppe, the Co-Prosecutors have 'joined the ranks of those willing to accept the "weakened brand" of justice this Tribunal cannot seem to avoid dispensing'. The lawyers conclude that not one of the 'hyper technical' arguments proffered by the Co-Prosecutors prevents the Chamber from initiating an independent inquiry into the political interference in the course of justice at the tribunal.
