The Court in The Hague will hold the first so-called pro forma session of the criminal case brought against Y.N.

N. is being prosecuted on charges of genocide and murder in Rwanda. The criminal offences in question were allegedly perpetrated in 1994 in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda.

N., who is represented by Victor Koppe, is pleading 'not guilty' to the charges. The hearing on 27 September 2010 will be of a pro forma nature; it is unclear when the substantive hearings will be held. At present, it is estmiated that they will take place in the spring of 2011. First, many witnesses in Rwanda and other countries will have to be examined. N. is currently detained in custody.
