Children who have been illegally adopted hold the Dutch government to account

< >

From 1970 onwards many children were adopted abroad by Dutch couples. The adoptions were arranged by Dutch organisations. The TV documentary Zembla has recently uncovered that in many cases the adoption proceedings were not according to the rules. Now, many persons once adopted cannot find their biological parents. This is also the case for Dilani Butink. Together with her lawyer Lisa Komp she now holds the Dutch state to account for failing to prevent illegal adoptions.
