Case against supplier of police dogs to the Israeli Defence Forces

< >

Amsterdam, 2 May 2018 - On behalf of the young Palestinian Hamzeh Abu Hashem, Liesbeth Zegveld and Lisa Komp have initiated proceedings against a Dutch company that sells police dogs to the Israeli Defence Forces.  Due to the manner in which the Israeli army uses these dogs in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, civilians have fallen prey to canine attacks. This is also the case with the West Bank-resident Hamzeh Abu Hashem. On 23 December 2014, when he was 16 years old, Hamzeh was attacked by IDF police dogs that wounded and traumatized him. He is now claiming damages from the Dutch company that sold the dogs that attacked him to the Israeli Defence Forces.
